Kidney Qi Deficiency

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Gui Shen Wan (Shu Di, Shan Yao, Shan Zhu Yu, Fu Ling, Dang Gui, Gou Qi Zi, Du Zhong, Tu Si Zi)

Modifications:

  • With more Yang Deficiency: Rou Gui, Yin Yang Huo, Ren Shen
  • With frequent urination: Yi Zhi Ren, Sang Piao Xiao
  • With more Kidney Yin Deficiency: Sheng Di, Xuan Shen, Nu Zhen Zi
  • With Yin Deficiency Yang Kan or Fire uprising: Subtract Du Zhong, Tu Si Zi, Add Mu Dan Pi, Zhi Zi

Acupuncture Points:

  • REN-4 Moxa
  • KI-3 Moxa (No Moxa if Yin Deficient)
  • BL-23,62
  • DU-3,4
  • With night sweats: Add HT-6, KI-7

Blood (Xue) Deficiency

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Zhi Xue Tang (Ren Shen, Huang Qi, Fu Ling, Shan Yao) Add Si Wu Tang (Dang Gui, Bai Shao, Shu Di, Chuan Xiong)

Modifications:

  • With palpitations, insomnia: Chao Suan Zao Ren, Wu Wei Zi
  • With poor digestion: Add Bai Zhu, Sha Ren, Ji Nei Jin
  • With only a small amount of bleeding: Add Gou Qi Zi, Shan Zhu Yu

Acupuncture Points:

  • REN-4, 6
  • BL-13,15,17,18,20,23 Tonify
  • KI-3
  • ST-36

Cold in the Blood

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Ai Fu Yuan Gong Wan (Dang Gui, Sheng Di or Shu Di, Bai Shao, Chuan Xiong, Huang Qi, Rou Gui, Ai Ye, Xiang Fu, Wu Zhu Yu, Xu Duan)

Modifications:

  • With intense cold: Add Fu Zi

Acupuncture Points:

  • Moxa, self treat often
  • REN-3,4
  • SP-6,8,10
  • LIV-3

Qi and Blood Stagnation

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Tong Yue Jian (Dang Gui Wei, Shan Zha, Hong Hua, Wu Yao, Qing Pi, Mu Xiang, Ze Xie)

Modifications:

  • With a patient who has emotional issues: Add Chai Hu, Bai Shao
  • With heat, fever: Zhi Zi, Huang Bai, Mu Dan Pi, Ze Xie

Acupuncture Points:

  • REN-3,4,6
  • Zigong
  • SP-8,10
  • GB-34
  • LIV-3

Damp-Phlegm Blockage - Tan Shi

Formulas and Herbs:

  • Er Chen Tang Add Chuan Gui Tang (Ban Xia, Chen Pi, Fu Ling, Zhi Gan Cao, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Xiang Fu, Zhi Ke, Hua Shi)

Modifications:

  • With Kidney Qi Deficiency: give hormones
  • If before ovulation: use tonify herbs
  • If after ovulation: use tonify Yang herbs

  • SP-10
  • ST-36,40
