Actions

Reduces Heat and Relieves Toxicity
For any type of febrile disease, especially for epidemic and contagious diseases, such as influenza, meningitis, and pneumonia. This herb clears toxins in any part of the body, with an affinity for treating the Lungs and the throat.
Cools the Blood and Reduces Skin Macula
For skin eruptions and blotches from severe heat in the Blood.

Contraindications and Cautions

Caution in cases of cold from deficiency of the spleen and stomach.

The root of this plant is Radix Isatidis seu Baphicacanthi (ban lan gen), and a natural indigo dye can be prepared from the leaves, Indigo Pulverata Levis (qing dai).
