Headache, ophthalmalgia, epistaxis. rhinorrhea, mental disorders.
Where is DU-23 located?
- A Manual of Acupuncture (p. 556): At the top of the head on the midline, 1 cun posterior to the anterior hairline and 0.5 cun posterior to Shenting DU-24.
- Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion (p. 234): 1 cun directly above the midpoint of the anterior hairline.
Puncture subcutaneously 0.3-0.5 inch or prick to cause bleeding. Moxibustion is applicable.
This point is prohibited in infants with metopism (as is the metopic suture of the frontal skull bone).
