Actions:

  • Sedates the Yang, calms the Liver, and extinguishes internal wind
  • Tonifies the Liver and Kidneys, invigorates the Blood, and clears heat.

Indications:

  • Headache, tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo, blurry vision, a sensation of heat rising to the head, insomnia, nightmares, possible numbness, tingling, twitching, or spasms in the extremities

Possible Tongue Appearance:

  • Red tongue body with a possible yellow coat

Possible Pulse Patterns:

  • Wiry and possibly rapid pulse

Western Uses:

  • Hypertension
  • Puerperal Eclampsia
  • Hemiplegia
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia

Cautions, Contraindications, Herb Drug Interactions:

  • Do not use in cases where internal wind is due to deficiency

Preparation Notes:

  • Decoction. Cook Shi Jue Ming before adding the remaining ingredients. Gou Teng should be added towards the end of the decoction.
